So we’ve talked about “factory” colors, so now let’s talk about “special” colors. So what exactly do we mean by that? Well, that’s a tough one, but here’s the basic criteria we’re gonna use.
Color was applied by the Rickenbacker factory. No refins.
Color does not appear in any catalogs, price lists, or color charts.
At least two guitars were produced in the color at the same time. It would be next to impossible to keep up with all of the one offs that have come out of the factory in recent years, so there have to be at least two of them!
Clear enough? Let’s go!
Blue Hawaiian: A bright medium blue.

British Racing Green: A dark forest green.

Cadillac Green: A metallic light turquoise.

Candy Apple Green: A bright, metallic green.

Candy Apple Purple: A bright, metallic purple.

Cieloglo: A bright light-to-medium blue.

Copper Orangeglo: A metallic deep copper orange.

Fire Alarm Red: A bright red. Very similar (if not identical) to Pillar Box Red.

Goldglo: A dark metallic gold closer to a Gibson Goldtop than COTY Desert Gold.

Grayglo: Jetglo with a matte coat under the final gloss finish.

Jetglo Pearlstars: A pearlescent black.

Light Mocha Cream: A creamy off-white.

Matte Amber Fireglo: I’m not sure if this is the right name for this finish. It is also referred to as a Satin Fireglo, and I can find no “official” name anywhere. A red to amber burst with a smooth matte/flat finish.

Metallic Plumglo: A metallic dark pink.

Midnight Purple: A metallic grape purple.

Montezuma Amberglo: A brown to amber burst.

Orangeglo: A bright, glossy metallic orange.

Pearl Jetglo: A pearlescent black.

Pearl White: A pearlescent white.

Pillar Box Red: A bright red. Very similar (if not identical) to Fire Alarm Red.

Ruby Pearlstars: A pearlescent deep red.

Santa Ana Skyglo: A metallic medium blue.

Satin Autumnglo: A two tone brown burst with a flat/matte finish.

Satin Autumnglo (Orange Version): A brownish orange burst, noticeably more orange and less brown than previous versions, with a flat/matte finish.

Satin Mapleglo: Clearcoat only with a flat/matte finish.

Seafoam Green Pearl: A pearlescent Seafoam Green.

Snowglo: Began as a slightly creamy white, evolved to a bright high-gloss white. Also referred to as “Sno-Glo” when first introduced.

Special Green: A very light, bluish green similar to but lighter than Fender Seafoam Green.

Tobaccoglo: An almost black to orange burst. NOT the same as the brown to amber burst Tobaccoglo found on the 480XC.

TV Yellow: A bright opaque yellow.

Walnut Burst: A two-tone brown burst. Very similar to Autumnglo or Montezuma Brown.

Yellowglo: A bright, glossy yellow.

That is what we know as of today! As new colors appear (or are rediscovered), I’ll add them here.
