Although I have never played or heard one, I like the look of the tobaccoburst 480XC. It's just too pricey to try out for a while and see if it is a keeper and might be hard to get my money back on if I don't warm up to it. RIC may have been better off going the way of the 1993+ or something in that body style. Too late now. Rickenbacker 101 is great, by the way. Keep up the wonderful installments!!

I’ve not had a chance to play a 4005xc but would love to. However from what I’ve heard about their playability, not sure if I’d be purchasing one!

The XC strikes me as a bass for guitar players. Bass players who prefer short scale basses are really a niche inside of a niche market, and up until now that crowd probably didn't own a Rick. I don't hold a lot of hope for an increase in collectability for the XC beyond where the 3001 is today.

Love the look of the XC but now that the actual 4005 is back it’s probably a back burner.

Absolutely love the George Harrison LOOK of the XC (won’t call it a 4005). But it’s a non-starter for me as an ergonomic player. (30” scale, oversize bound flat edged body, bridge in the middle of the body).

The tobacco finish on the 480 is stunning, but I’d rather have seen an updated 4002 made from what I gather are new old stock 4002 body wings.
